Southern California's Finest City

San
Diego, the seventh largest city in the U.S., is a collection
of communities with a population of 2.6 million people. Situated
at the southwestern coastal tip of the United States, San
Diego is approximately two hours from Los Angeles and only
20 minutes from Mexico.
San
Diego is known for its temperate climate -- the average year-round
temperature is 740F/230C (average high in July is 770F/250C
and 650F/180C in January). There are
many beaches in San Diego, and plenty of water
sports such as surfing, sailing, fishing and diving.
Drive a few miles and the view changes from beaches to high
mountains to desert. Hiking and bicycling are very popular
in San Diego, as are snow sports such as skiing
and snowboarding. It seldom rains during the year,
and most days are sunny and clear.
Sightseeing
You really need more than a day or two to truly appreciate
all the area has to offer. Our top five suggestions
are: Balboa
Park, Sea World,
the San Diego Zoo,
our beautiful beaches, and Old Town.
Shopping
Many regional malls are located
minutes from campus, and there are plenty of unusual shops
in the various neighborhoods of San Diego. La Jolla,
the historic Gaslamp Quarter, and Tijuana,
Mexico offer hundreds of small specialty shops.
Entertainment
Movie theaters are located within 10 minutes of campus.
Many national Broadway shows are featured here, as are noted
classical, jazz, rock, salsa, and country musicians. There
are dozens of clubs and cafes. The daily San
Diego Union-Tribune or The
Reader can be consulted for up-to-the-minute listings.
